Pastor Douglas Schroeder

Son of Paul and Sylvia Schroeder, Douglas W. Schroeder was ordained in 1988 and has served Our Shepherd Lutheran Church since 1993. He has been co-speaker on The Word Today, along with Pastor Paul, since 2007.
Pastor Doug brings Scripture to life through clear, encouraging teaching that helps listeners understand God's Word and apply it to their daily lives. His warm, accessible style has made The Word Today a beloved part of millions of listeners' routines around the world.
Pastor Doug is also the author of THOUGHTS, a book based on the monthly newsletter of The Word Today by the same title.
Paul R. Schroeder
Founder & Speaker (1978–2021)
Ordained in 1958, Paul R. Schroeder served Our Shepherd Lutheran Church — the home of The Word Today — for 48 years. He hosted a local television show called "Answers for Today" from 1967 to 1977.
The Word Today was started in 1978, and Pastor Paul was speaker on the program for 30 years. He challenged the members of Our Shepherd to raise $25,000 in two weeks as a sign that God wanted the ministry started. Just 1½ hours before the deadline, the final gift of $500 put the total at $25,100 — and the ministry was born.
Pastor Paul was called home to Heaven in September of 2021, but can still be heard proclaiming Christ on The Word Today.
